Iten Vocational and Training Centre (IVTC)

I am delighted to warmly welcome you to the Iten Vocational and Training Centre (IVTC) website. It is my sincere hope that this platform reflects the passion, dedication, and enthusiasm that define the spirit of our institution. At IVTC, staff and students work together with commitment and purpose, making our Centre a truly wonderful place for learning, growth, and the pursuit of self-reliance.

IVTC is a community-focused, development-oriented public technical training institution, located in Elgeyo Marakwet County, Iten Town, just behind the Iten Market. Since its establishment in 1972, the institution has steadily grown into a respected centre of academic excellence and skills-based training, attracting accreditation from reputable national and international examining bodies. Over the years, IVTC has welcomed students from different counties across Kenya, fostering diversity and inclusivity.

When the institution began, training was offered in only three courses:

  • Masonry

  • Tailoring and Knitting

  • Carpentry

At that time, IVTC had a population of about 80 students. Today, we pride ourselves on tremendous growth, now hosting over 800 students and offering eight major programs:

  • Building Technology

  • Electrical & Electronics

  • Food Processing Technology

  • Plumbing & Pipe Fitting

  • Motor Vehicle Technology

  • Metal Processing

  • Fashion & Design

  • Hairdressing & Beauty Therapy

Departments Strategic Objectives

The institution is fully registered under the Ministry of Education, State Department of TVET, with registration number:

We are accredited to offer examinations from various recognized bodies, including KNEC, ensuring that our graduates receive certifications that are highly valued by employers.
